| | Guest | Castro: Cruise Ships No Longer Welcome in Cuba Interesting comments from Castro.....Will he let go of his tenacious rule of
this island nation? He always seems to blame the US embargo on Cuba's
problems.

.... although, in fairness, I don't actually see a mention of the US
embargo in this article. Assuming you're a US citizen? I guess you guys
are just a little paranoid about Cuba. Like it or not, he *is* their
ruler.

true, but look at what those freedoms do for the majority of people in a
number of, for example, South American states - nothing; while a few get
disproportionately wealthy. At least, although poor, Cubans seem to
have ubiquitous health and education services.

Yeah, right. Next time you're sick or need elective surgery I guess
you'll go to Cuba. And you'll send your kids to Cuba for their
education. What dickheads we get here sometimes. | |

Well, yes, I suppose seeing people who are free to come and go as they
like and pursue life as they please would seem a negative influence to a
totalitarian thug like Castro.
I take it from your tone that you're a big fan of his?

I didn't get that tone at all. Came across as VERY cynical.

Oh well. I'm afraid I'm starting to assume the worst of people these days.

As far as Fidel Castro not wanting information of his country's
situation disseminated, the time is long past when conditions are kept
hidden. The Cuban Ministry of Tourism reported that a record number of
tourists visited the island in 2004 and stated that the total figure
reached was 2,048,572 visitors. Cruise ship visits or not, the figures
will just keep rising.
