| | Guest | NO deck Plans in New Brochure Exactly Ernie. I try to keep updated plans for every mainline ship as I am
constantly asked by others where their cabins is, if it is in a good
location, what it looks like, etc. Many people just do not know they can go
to the cruiselines website and look it up and or do not have a brochure and
have no idea what the cabin is like or where it is located. I love having
this information at my fingertips so I can help others. It is also very
handy to figure out what cabins I want to book myself when I can go on a
cruise.

| | Guest | NO deck Plans in New Brochure I received a fax on the new Brochures from RCCL, and they will not have
deck plans in them, I want to know what others thoughts on this is. I
think it is not a smart thing to do, its like having a can of chicken
soup and not having all the ingredients. BUT maybe I am thinking this
from a travel agents viewpoint. Do consumers such as yourselves, really
like the deck plans included? would you rather see them online? Do you
not care if they are in a brochure or not? Will this make you think the
brochure is not effective? I would like to see feedback from agents and
Consumers on what you think of this new policy?
Thanks!

Untill I started using some of the TAs from RTC, I would go into my
TAs office to book a cruise. I always had a brochure with the deck
plan in front of me, while we were choosing a cabin. Then after
booking, I would take the brochure home and have something to drool
over. Also there are many people who don't have computer access or
even if they do, they wouldn't think to look for a deck plan on the net.
For me personally, as long as I have my computer, a brochure with or
without deck plans isn't important. As we have said here before, those
of us who post here all the time have a lot more information then the
average cruiser. So I do think the brochures should have deck plans!!

It's a RIDICULOUS idea, and I don't care if you are a consumer or travel
agent. I hate RCI brochures anyway, as they do all possible to downplay the
fact you are on a ship. In fact you are hard pressed to even find a picture
of a ship. It's all about the activities and ports with RCI, and very
little about the ship. I always felt this was rather counter productive
since RCI's ships are so attractive and innovative. I think they should be
playing up the ship itself along with the activities and ports. RCI's deck
plans are by far the worst in print anyway, but at least you can see where
your cabin is. The lounge detail is pathetic.
Not all passengers have access to the internet at all times (some not at
all). There is nothing like looking at a printed deck plan at your
convenience, not just when you are sitting in front of a computer.
Bad idea RCI .... sounds like some of your bean counters are at work again.

| | Guest | NO deck Plans in New Brochure I ALWAYS look at deck plans... multiple times. While I've never "picked" a
cabin, I DO want to know where it is before boarding the ship, and where
everything else is to.
BUT
Based on the number of "lost" people we see on every sailing, and the number
of posts even here for people who complain about finding their way around...
I suspect that people like me might be in the minority.

I ALWAYS refer to the deck plans when planning a cruise. I think it's
pretty important for one reason: my 90-year old mother cruises with
me and we need to know the location of things so as to save her a lot of
walking. However, I don't cruise on RCCL so that's another reason I will
continue to not utilize them.

Just one more reason we will never cruise with RCCL. Deck plans are
essential during the planning process. I hope RCCL read this and
quickly change their minds.

I think it is a bad policy. They might as well toss the whole brochure
without the deck plans.

| | Guest | NO deck Plans in New Brochure I've contracted the OP but have not heard back yet, but I'm trying to obtain
a copy of this original fax from RCI if possible.
Please contact me at erollerYYY@fotki.com if you have one. Remove the "YYY"
