Haven't heard anything about NCL using the Brooklyn piers.

One big improvement over the Manhattan terminals, is that the facility
will be brand new. Only time will tell how well it is laid out and
managed.

I hadn't either but that's what the website says.

I'll drop Ted an e-mail and ask him.

I'll report back.

Here's the word from Ted Scull:

-Hi Karen
-My understanding is that the deal with the port includes Carnival
-Corp. and NCL, who together have committed to produce some $200
-million in revenues over a fixed period of time as the result of
-berthing ships there. The Carnival Corp. ships include Cunard and
-perhaps Princess and others but I have not heard a break down of
-Carnival Corp. brands beyond Cunard. NCL will have two ships based in
-New York, though I do not know if both are year-round. I hope that
-helps. If I hear more, we will post it.
-Ted

The latest scheduling for Holland America (Carnival brand) shows the new
Noordam sailing from NYC to the Caribbean beginning in Feb. 2006 for a few
weeks. Then it goes somewhere else...Europe for the summer, maybe. (old guy
memory)
