| | Guest | Tips on Cruising with Kids Cruising can be loads of fun with kids, by all means bring them along. Its a
great family vacation.
Don't worry about the kid-haters that haunt this newsgroup. They don't
represent the typical public on a cruise ship but rather a bitter minority
who should be happier staying home.

| | Guest | Tips on Cruising with Kids We had gone on February School Vacation cruises with the kids for years when
they were little and into their teens. Cruises are a great family
vacations. My wife and I have cruised several times since - but something
is missing.

Love the kids... can't stand the parents who abdicate all parental
responsibility once the ship sails ;)

BUT, if I am on a ship which has lots of things to do for the kids then
it is my fault for going on that ship in the first place. I am not a kid
hater BUT that can be argued by lots of people here. My beef was not
so much the kids but the age of the kids some parents "wanted" to take
on "their" cruise and the supervision of the other kids.

| | Guest | Tips on Cruising with Kids I think the plethora of appends regarding this topic proves the point.
Thankfully, I've never witnessed this attitude on a cruise, just in this
newsgroup. All the mainstream cruiselines actively encourage families and
children to cruise on their ships, including HAL, RCCL, Princess, Carnival,
etc. Those that are uncomfortable with that are more than welcome to stay
home. Likewise they're more than welcome not to respond to threads on the
newsgroup regarding cruising with kids.
I have not experienced children being a problem on any of the many cruises
we've taken. I have seen many cases where adults have been an issue,
especially groups of extremely inebriated adults.

Well. Supposed " Foo". Your post is Foo. I have no problem with
children in general on cruises but your post is self rightous bull. I
have never experienced groups of extremely inebriated adults. I have
seen a few extremely inebriated adults but they were not a problem. I
have experienced cases where groups of children were a problem, one in
particular on Celebrity when there were a large amount on teens onboard
getting together in "posses" and causing havoc. In another case on a
Carnival cruise last year there was a group of children who were
disrespectful during the evening shows, running around and making
noise, making it hard to watch the entertainement, and at one show they
were making fun of and heckling a singer whose style did not appeal to
them.

I guess everyone's experience varies, but I've never found inebriated
adults to be a problem on a cruise. I cannot say the same for
inebriated roving groups of Teens, or completely sober groups of 12
year olds. Yeah a inebriated adult maybe loud, but they usually don't
push you or steep on your feet or bump into in the hallway as the run
down it.

Now you got the right idea.

Gee, I saw this on the Zenith in 1994. At the time I thought they
should have some big stereotypical cop from the thirties walk
through banging his nightstick on the balusters
shouting "move along"...
I haven't seen this on other ships, as they seem to have better
places for kids to hang out.
