No offense Myron but what would but kind of emphasize could there be on
adoptive families? How would you even distinguish them from any other
family?

nope - no leg pulling - A group of families who have adopted children would
have special discussion topics
and it would be good to meet up with others who have gone through similar
experiences. Plus no one would
ever notice any thing that distinguishes them from another family.

What a callous way to describe an Asian adoption. I happen to personally
know two people who have adopted little Chinese girls.. If you saw the
pictures of the deplorable conditions of the orphanages that these babies
were living in, you might reconsider making such a disgusting statement.
It definitely isn't a fashion statement for these two...one has children of
their own and the other is unable to have them..The love that is being given
to these precious babies now, makes me wish their natural mothers, who had
to give them away, could see how happy and well-cared for these little ones
are..

I've lived there. Deplorable to you can be the Ritz-Carlton to them.
Never ceases to amaze me, since I am no longer surprised by anything,
the fact that people will apply an American standard of living to
other countries, especially third world ones.

Like most others, you have missed the point.

No point missed.. Is a board with no sheet for a mattress the Ritz-Carlton?
Is sitting there or lying there on that board all day with nothing to do or
play with, Ritz-Carlton? Is going to a pediatrician for years after adoption
to straighten out medical problems.. a result of a Ritz-Carlton lifestyle?
Unless you really know what these adoptive parents have to go through to get
that precious little one and then have to go through afterwards ...I would
not criticize anyone who adopts..Love for a child,
any child, is the powerful motive for most adoptive parents....

In Puerto Rico, in the 1960's, as a nurse, I worked with the nuns in the
slums of La Perla..We taught mothers how to take care of their newborns..We
delivered newborns ..Our parish on Ft. Buchanan, supplied diapers, layettes,
blankets, soap and formula for these babies...I'm very aware of just what
deplorable conditions are and I am sure there are even worse in other parts
of the world.

Times are different now and most young families need a double income
to survive and many do not live near their families. Does that mean
they should not have any children or adopt a child?? I know of many,
many couples whos children go to day care and still have a very loving
family life.

Maybe they exist in your world, but I have not seen any child that was
adopted for any reason other then to have a child to love. This
includes those that I know who can or can't have children of their own.
