I really enjoyed reading your report. It also makes me want to do a
Windjammer cruise some day.

Do you think they allow Bunny Ears on a Windjammer ship?

Serious question...
How was the ship from a "musty odor" perspective down inside? I was on the
pirate ship in Grand Cayman once, and there was a definite musty odor below
the upper deck. That's something that can gave me allergy and asthma
problems. Even old homes close to the beach can have that musty smell, and
drive my allergies and asthma crazy. You get that when wood gets wet and
stays wet. I went into the lighthouse home in Newport Harbor last fall and
couldn't stay in the home during our short, afternoon visit. Others went
inside to tour the home, but I opted to stay outside. People stay there a
week to maintain the light (you can book a week, and they actually pay you a
small amount to stay there), but they're very clear to mention the allergy
and asthma issue. I'm wondering if Windjammer ships have the same issue.
It's something others might not even notice. But to me it's a critical
issue. I couldn't survive a night with breathing problems on a musty ship.

I will add a related question. Do these ships have air conditioning? If
they don't I think you would have a problem.

That sounds like a "end of consideration" for me.
A "bit of" to me with my allergies and asthma, is like being a "little bit
pregnant".

what areas/things to avoid.

June,
Thanks for a great review! My nephew used to live on Water Island, I
didn't know that any ships, even Windjammmers, stopped there.

It isn't far off shore from St. Thomas. My nephew had what looked a
motorized row boat that he used to get to and from St. Thomas. Once
the boat started to go, he decided to move to St. Thomas. I would
guess that the Princess people had gotten there on their own, but that
is only a guess.

They may have been on an excursion. I once took a Princess snorkeling
excursion on a small, rubber, motorized craft that held about ten
people and went to three different snorkel spots off of St. Thomas.
Water Island sounds familiar.

There might be a regular water taxi from St Thomas to Water Island,
but I am not sure.

I never went to Water Island, when I saw my nephews "boat" I decided
it wasn't meant for me(grin). I don't think there is much to see other
then the beach.
