| | Guest | Venice - How Much time do I need to get from Cruise Terminal to Airport We are sailing on the Rotterdam in and out of Venice in October. Ship
docks at 8:00am (probably earlier.
Can I make a 11:00 plane heading back to the US?
How much time do I need from ship to plane?
Thanks, | |

| | Guest | Venice - How Much time do I need to get from Cruise Terminal to Airport It is not impossible but you are really cuttting it close. If your flight
departs at 11:00am then you should be checking in around 9:30am at the latest.
You should allow an hour for transit from the pier to the airport, not because
of distance but because of congestion and other things that can slow you down.
That means that you will have to be off the ship and have baggage in hand, ready
for a Taxi, at about 8:30am.
Cutting it too close for my style of travel. Use your best judgement.
Have a great Cruise.

Have you ever been to Venice before? If you've had you really
wouldn't be asking this question. If you make it, you'll make it by
the skin of your teeth. Look at all of the variables.
1. Docking time
2. When you actually get to debark, not same as # 1
3. Getting your luggage
4. Getting to the Airport
5. Getting through the Airport
If you've never been in Venice before stay a couple of days. It is a
wonderful city.

Much more than you are allowing yourself..The line from the ship to get a
taxi was extremely long when we got off the Westerdam last May... We got to
our hotel around 11:30 AM..If I were you, I'd spend the rest of the day and
that night in Venice and leave the next day at 11 AM...There is a hotel
nearby that was recommended to us by Cal Ford called, Hotel Santa Chiara..it
is on the Grand Canal on one side, with a street next to it where all the
busses and taxis stand..You can catch a bus to the airport from there..
Have a wonderful cruise!

Good advice from all of the above posts.. if you feel you must give it a
try, book a private car to meet you at the ship. More expensive, but
avoids waiting in the taxi line. You could also book a private water
taxi to take you to the airport. Last time I took a plane to Venice, it
seemed that the water taxi took less time than the land taxi on the
previous trip.
