| | Guest | Cruise vs. All-Inclusive Why in the world should he be ashamed of this post? It is very interesting
to see how they are trying to compare even though I disagree with their
figures and the way they look at it. It sure is a lot more interesting than
reading projected financial reports or other dry mundane backroom
information that one poster puts out as a press release. <G> Also, note the
lack of advertising by George.

Why? I don't see anything that he should be ashamed of..it has to do with
cruising as opposed to all-inclusives.

| | Guest | Cruise vs. All-Inclusive I think a lot of what one's preference winds up being has to do with what
one did "first".
I had been to a few AI resorts before I went on a cruise. I was SHOCKED to
find out how much excursions cost because they had always been included!
Drinks didn't bother me, I just didn't partake. I don't recall dining
necessarily being much of an issue, although the last place I went did have
buffet service. That wasn't the "problem" for me though. What was (and what
is why I haven't been to an AI since) is that there was assigned seating,
and I was expected to dine at what was intended to be a table for two,
alone. That is NOT a vacation to me! So.... I've been cruising ever since.
It's been several years (and many cruises) since that trip... and I'm
thinking that I'm "cruised out" for now. Not sure if I'm "vacationed out"
too... but I will look into an AI next time I'm considering it.

I agree. That is why I say "perhaps". I am not sure. But I think it
was, that is the only way it makes sense.

Interesting what people consider pluses. One of the things I don't like
about cruises is that most meals are served indoors, and the climate control
isn't to my liking (too cold). I much prefer eating in the fresh air. I
always wondered why cruise ships offer so few outdoor dining options, as
they often cruise in areas where the weather is wonderful. It's probably
because their prime customers are like Sue and Kevin, and they prefer the
indoor dining. Got to give the cruise lines points for catering to their
clientele. | |

I don't think it is so much what you did first, it is more a matter of
what you like to do on a vacation. If this all-inclusive had been the
first trip for us and we hadn't been with friends, I would of been
very bored.

I guess it depends on the AI and what type of excursions you take.
Where we were there were a lot of water sports included, but no
excursions. We took a tour to Chichen Itza, but we had to pay for that.

Where we were you were able to sit where ever you wanted, there was no
assigned seats. Just proves how different one AI is from another.
