Hi Looloooooo,

Yes, I have enjoyed the Delta Queen (which is a national landmark!) and
I should imagine the other Queens ... American and Mississippi ... are
equally worthwhile. Try it and let us know your reaction.

Hi,
Did the Mississippi Queen round trip out of New Orleans for just a 3
day trip. It was nice. Kind of expensive at the time but had a nice
veranda cabin.
Not much doing. Visited Nottoway, Oak Alley and Houma's on the banks of
the Mississippi. The ship just pulls up to he bank and you walk over
the levee and visit a time in the past when sugarcane was king.
The entertainment is in the paddlewheeler lounge in the stern with a
double deck view of the paddle wheel. The ship does power with the
paddle wheel, but I think it also has bow thrusters for better control.

It was a very layed back trip. I lived along the banks of the
Mississippi and knew these places before, but still enjoyed the visits.

Joe

I've done both the American Queen and Riverbarge. While I enjoyed the
AQ, the nostalgia schtick would have gotten on my nerves if the cruise
had been much longer than 3 days. I prefer Riverbarge: much the same
itineraries as the Queens, but more all-inclusive (shore excursions are
included), no tipping, open seating, completely casual. You might want
to consider Riverbarge as well as the Queens.

snowy, who recently booked her first cruise on one of the big ships.
Holy ship! what have I gotten myself into?

I did the AQ for three nights and did not like it. There was very
little to do. I think it appeals more to people from red states
than blue states. Maybe I would have enjoyed it if I had somebody
to translate from rube to snob.
