Default Advice on choosing the right cruise (RCI)

We are a couple out of the Netherlands, and we are planning our first
cruise in May. We want to go on one of the Eagle class ships of RCI,
leaving from Miami. From other people we understand that the route
does not really matter that much. Looking at the options we either
want to choose for the 7 Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise with Explorer
Of The Seas or the 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise with Navigator Of
The Seas.

Any advise on which to choose? Or choose another cruise-line and/or
ship?

With Royal Caribbean, I'd go with the newer ship (in this case Navigator).

Actually Marc the route does matter. The Eastern is more for shopping and
more American culture and the Western is more adventurous and deals with
more different cultures such as Mexican, Jamaican, and British or Central
American. (Can't remember the exact ports offhand) I have been on the
Explorer and it was a great ship but I think the Navigator might actually be
better as it is a few years newer.

======================
Flip a coin on the route and honestly you can flip a coin on what
cruise line to take since this is your first crusie.. It takes a few
crusies before you can determine just what you personally like and a
little longer to fine a crusie line that can deliver what you like
more then 50 percent of the time...

Just have a good time... and enjoy yourself... You my become
addicted ...if you do... after another 20 cruises you just may know
what you like... but you still will not know what I like...

Default Advice on choosing the right cruise (RCI)

Royal Caribbean is an excellent choice for your first (and many more)
cruise. The Western cruise has great stops including Georgetown, Grand Cayman
where you can snorkel with the stingrays! We've done the western trip twice
and think it would be great for your first trip.

Some considerations for first time cruisers:
Plan on dressing for dinner early some day as you are leaving a port. Go
to the Viking Crown lounge (deck 14) for a cocktail and enjoy a 360 degree
view of the port you are leaving.
We recommend a window stateroom so you can look out and be oriented as
to where you are and the time of day.
We recommend a stateroom on a lower level to minimize lateral motion -
if there is any.
We recommend a mid-ships stateroom to minimize vertical motion that you
might find in a forward room. Mid-ships will also keep you away from the
anchor chain hawse pipes and the noise at an early morning anchorage. Aft
rooms might be subject to some vibration from the screws.
We recommend arriving in Miami a day early to allow for jet lag recovery
and to allow some slack time if you encounter any delays. Booking your air
through RCCL may be an advantage as they will be obligated to help you if
you have delays.
I like to rent a tuxedo on board to save carrying a suit or tux. The
ladies seem to appreciate the extra effort when gentlemen wear black tie.

Enjoy your cruise. Let us know what you choose.
