Default Columbia taken of Cruise itinerary

I just got a notice today from Princess.
Colombia has been taken off as a port of call because of the latest
info from the US State Department. Cartagena, Colombia.

This is nothing new, the cruise lines haven't been going to Cartagena
for a long time.

That's funny, because we recently returned from a transCanal cruise that
included Cartegena as a port where we spent the day.

I think you are mistaken -- I read a transcanal review (Zaandam) on the
Cruise Critic "HAL" boards --- they definitely DID stop at Cartagena earlier
this month - and it was a nightmarish stop according to the reviewer.

Other than flooded streets due to a severe rain shower, what made it
"nightmarish"? I found it to be an interesting place.

No you don't understand. We have booked our Panama cruise for Jan/Feb
and Cartegena WAS a stop. I received a confirmation fax directly from
Princess cruise lines informing me that the Colombia stop was going to
be bypassed because of the increase in problems as reported by the US
State Dept.

They say it might change in the next few months but for now, Colombia
is a no go. Just because you went somewhere last month doesn't mean
that it will be safe to go there forever.
