| | Guest | Handicapped Lawsuit Well said, Earl.... We have an individual like that where I live. ...He
drives around in a van with huge stickers all over it that say things
like: "Keep 10 feet back-- wheel chair on board". ...Oxygen on board
etc. He's got flashing lights on the roof. He "expects" everyone to get
out of his way, and let him go to the head of the line. ...He spends ten
minutes at his van, loading and off loading his tax payer paid electric
scooter via his tax payer paid crane. ...But...If he's in a hurry,
he'll hop right out of his vehicle, and race into the store without the
slightest hint of a disability. ...Jon | |

It seems to me that several orders of magnitude more people
travel on airplanes than cruise ships, and that often air travel
is a near necessity, while cruise travel is a holiday luxury.
Wouldn't it be more of a benefit to compel handicapped
accessible rest rooms in airplanes?

Sorry, I see a major problem in this whole posting. I assume by the name of the
cruise line, it is not flying under United States Registration. That being so,
the Supreme Court has not authority.
Second, I don't think cruise ships are mentioned in the ADA (Americans With
Disabilities Act). In fact, I do not think the feds get involved at all with
this type of matter, it's left up to the state,

| | Guest | Handicapped Lawsuit Jon,
I don't know where you get your "information".
My wife travels with an electric scooter, which was NOT paid for by
taxpayers. I don't believe there is ANY government in Canada that has a
plan that pays for that. We even have to pay, personally, for our
"handicap" placard for our car.
Believe me, the inconvenience of having to carry, and unload, a handicap
device is NOT a pleasure that people that require these things would do if
it was not necessary.
Just thank God, if you believe in such a being, that you are not in that
category, and have some consideration for those less fortunate than you.

I agree with your post. It makes me so sad when people with no
disabilities rail against those who do. It is as if they would like the
disabled to just disappear
Perhaps it makes them uncomfortable.
Perhaps a day in a veterans hospital would help them understand the
plight of the disabled and perhaps they might have more compassion.
