Default documents needed to board

I haven't cruised in a while and just booked one in Feb. on the Millennium.
Someone told me that women had to have something other then Birth Cert. and
Drivers Lic. to Board Ship. Can anyone help me with this? I don't want to go
the expense or trouble of getting a Passport.

Thanks,
Judy

You would really need something to tie your birth certificate tothe name on
your drivers's license. ie wedding license. Simpler to just have one
document and leave the rest home.

It depends on which ports you are visiting, and what nationality you are.
Your Travel agent or the cruise line is the best choice for the answers to
your particular cruise.

I believe they need their marriage license if they are using
their married name. My mom always carries hers and it's never been
requested but we know the one time she doesn't carry it she'll need it!

Only 27% of Americans have a passport. Join the minority. Trouble is
minimal, expense is minimal.

Please get a passport and save a ton of problems down the road!
Passports are easy to get, don't cost a lot, and can save your a** if
you get into a situation where you need to travel overland; e.g.
medical issues, family issues, and the like.

I can't conceive why you think you can afford a cruise and can't
afford a passport.

As far as women needing something other than a BC and DL - they are
probably thinking that if you are married and your drivers license has
your husband's last name on it, then it won't match your BC.
Sometimes a problem for brides on honeymoons.

And, you can apply for a passport at your local post office now (at
least by me). Really can't get any more easy or convenient. And, one
of these days, when I win one of those sweepstakes prizes for the
fabulous trip to Europe or Australia, I'll be all set to go...won't
have to wait for a passport :-).

Ok here we are on a cruise to the Med. While on route we run into medical
trouble near Costa Rica or Barbados. You are dropped ashore with your loved
ones and all of a sudden find yourselves in countries that require
passports. Having a passport allows you to take that deviation without
problems it also allows you to travel last minute.

Several years ago I was the child appointed to go to care for my mother who
was injured in Germany. I was the only one with a passport so I could
simply grab the first seat on a plane headed east and by the next afternoon
I found myself in Berlin. Without a passport, I would have been home
wondering if the doctors really understood her problems with anasthesia
(SP?) (Of course I also got a week in Rostock Germany without knowing
German!)

I have had a passport since 1947 and jc is correct
There have been many occasions when I have had to fly to the UK on short
notice At one time 6 hours notice.
Money spent on a passport is a good investment
