Default Can you carry on your luggage?

We will be on the new Carnival Valor in Feb. Does anyone know if
Carnival lets passengers carry their own luggage to their cabin or do
they require that it be checked in? Thanks

If it anything like the RCI ships, the luggage has to fit through the x ray
machine & I doubt if they'll let you. We carried our own luggage on RCI but
all the cases were the smaller carry on type & a backpack. Over the years
we've managed to shrink my wife's luggage to 2 small cases & mine to 1 small
case + 1 backpack. You can't believe how much time it saves.

If it fits through the x-ray scanner machine which is basically the same
size as those you see in airports, then yes you can carry it on. If it is
larger than that it must be checked. For what it's worth, there is no
problem with checking in your luggage and it appears within hours usually of
your boarding. The only thing we carry on now is our formal clothes in a
suit bag and personal items in a small case such as meds, cameras, and
things of that nature.

We also add a set of underwear and extra shirt and blouse. Just in the off
chance our luggage doesn't get onboard.
