Which one is the best from there 3: Lamanai, Altun Ha, or Xunantunich?

Thanks!

Helen,
My vote definitely goes to Xunantunich. My best friend is also in the
tour business and she also states that this one is the best.

Thanks Jim...
After looking at all 3 I kinda felt that Xunantunich was the best too.
I think I'll see about a tour to it when we're there in January.

Did you do the tour thru the cruise ship or independently?

I looked at belizecruiseexcursions.com and their tour is 7.5 hours and we're
only in port for 8 so that won't work. Maybe I'll just do the ships tour
cause it has one for Xunantunich and it's 7 hrs and at least I'll be
guaranteed I won't miss the ship!

Helen,
We did the ships excursion for a couple of reasons. The price was very
close, the fact is that it is a long bus ride and you do not want to break
down that far away. <G> The bus was clean and modern and the guides were
very good. They did their best to ensure that everyone was taken care of and
that we had some extra time to purchase local items of interest. Be advised
that the big temple has very narrow stairs that are also steep, without any
rails, and basically it is a straight drop off on one side and a wall on the
other. To top it off the day we were there was a light rain and it was
slippery. Even on the very top there was no safety rail, just a straight
down drop-off. <G> The guide said he has often had to literally carry
tourists back down from the top as they 'freeze up' <VBG>

Thanks Jim
We are going to use the ships tour...the tour is long (much like the Tulum
tour we took years ago) and I'd hate to miss the ship. At least now we have
a tour for Belize....
Now we have to work on Costa Rica and Panama....:)

In Costa Rica I also very highly recommend the White Water Rafting tour. It
was a scream and something virtually everyone on that tour wanted to do
again. Beautiful place Costa Rica. In Panama the canal is a must do if for
no other reason than the history and wonder of it. The Indian village is
also something that is exceptionally interesting. The tour takes you through
the old US Navy base including housing and the old hospital which is now a
resort hotel. The building on the base are really trashed or turned into
poor housing and nothing like the area as maintained by our servicemen.
Rather a shame really but interesting never the less.
