Discover Card has offered this for quite a while. I belive they are linked with
Carnival as far as the program goes.

It is available for HAL, Celebrity, Princess and RCI.
From the Discover site:

"Present your Certificate at the time of deposit to receive credit off
your final payment on a Carnival Cruise vacation. The Certificate amount
will be credited towards the lowest available fare for the vacation of
your choice at the time of reservation. Space is limited and certain
restrictions apply. This offer is applicable to new reservations only
and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. One
Certificate per cabin. The Certificate has NO CASH value. Payment must
be made with your Discover Card. The Certificate may only be redeemed
through the Touraid Travel Cruise and Vacation Desk at 1-888-275-5605."

Looks like you have to use their own agency.

I also have a Carnival sponsored card with CapitalOne. In
fact I have 26,000 points accumulated thus far.

What is the procedure to try and benefit from these points.
I once called CapitalOne... they said I had to deal with
Carnival. I sail Carnival all the time (obviously)but am
uncertain what the procedures are to claim the aforementioned
points.

Thanks for your help

Bill

you talked to the wrong person.

get someone who knows how to handle it correctly.
you call (capital one) & tell them you want to cash in your points ( cruise
$$$ or wine etc)
they give you a LONG confirmation #
you are to wait a few days to a week for it to get INTO the system.
you call your TA & give him/her the confirmation #, if you are turning in
for $$$ off on a cruise . THEY then call carnival & it is handled from
there.
IF you are turning in for wine/champagne you call carnival gift department
and they handle it.( you need the LONG confirmation #)

I did both last year, did not have any problems.
