I am thinking about going on the Carnival Miracle on June 12. It sails to
Port Caneveral and to the Bahamas. Has anyone here been to the bahamas? Is
it nice and is it worth going there? Thanks in advance.
Paul

I love the private islands in the Bahamas like CocoCay and Great Stirrup
Cay.

Nassau... I can take it or leave it. It's not a port that I consider a
positive or a negative. There are ports that are much better... but there
are also worse IMO.

I am a lover of sand and surf, and the bahamas actually have some of the
most beautiful beaches in the world. Unfortunately, many of these are
on islands are not on the Miracle's itinerary. The Miracle goes to
Nassau and Freeport.

Nassau is not one of my favorite places. The only good beach I know of
is on Paradise Island, an easy cab ride from the pier. Unfortunately,
it's at the Atlantis Hotel, and not open to the public. There have been
some recent posts about good public beaches right next to the Atlantis;
and perhaps someone on rtc who knows the details can provide them.

I haven't been to Freeport for many years. The last time I was there
(about 25 years ago in the month of June), I found that Lucaya Beach
(not one small beach, but a lengthly strip of beaches on the island) was
really wonderful.

At one time i dismissed the private islands as a make believe port ... but
they've really grown on me ... I'd add Half Moon Cay also to the list ...

Be seeing you

Thanks Robert. I'll file your post away for the next time I'm in
Nassau, myself.
