Cruise Ship Fire in 2000

I just came across a photo of a cruise ship that has it's stern fully in
flames and the bow sinking. The picture was taken in the port of
Funchal, Maderia on April 1, 2000. It certainly is not an April fools
joke. Anyone have any information on this?

How did I miss that? Do you think the photo is real? The flames and the
froth around the boat seem fake to me, but it's not like I have ever seen a
boat sink before so who knows......

I indeed believe it is a faked photo. Observe the date. Also
Google does not display anything about a ship fire there in
Funchal. Interesting however!

Looks like somebody's idea of a joke. Something "PhotoShop"ed. It looks
like they chose a P&O ship as the "burning, sinking" ship. The
webmaster of this site should take this doctored picture off of the page.

Fake:
1. There is on firefighting equipment seen
2. There us no mob scene watching
3. Traffic is moving normal
4. There are no lifeboats in the water
5. If the fire is in the stern, Wht is she sinking bow first?

But it is a fun photo
