Any tips for this place? It'll be the first time I've been there and
like Belize (my last message), I'm clueless on what is there or what I
don't want to miss.

We're not gamblers and will be traveling with an 8 year old child.

Been there twice. Not a whole lot to do really. Since you have a child
in tow the casino is out of the question.

1. Take an island tour excursion. We did that and it was nice. Saw some
celeb's homes, did a little shopping.

2. Grab a cab and head to the beach

3. Do a shore excursion to (can't remember the name of the place) -
Lunch provided. It was a beach resort.

That's about it. We have done option 1 and 3 and feel that next time (if
we do go there) we'd do option #2. Best bang for the buck I think. Taxis
are relatively cheap. The shore excursion cost us $60 a piece as I
recall. It was ok but don't think we really got our $$$ worth

This is from my review last month...

"Plenty of taxis awaited debarking passengers and our biggest dilemma was
whether to go to the International Bazaar (at $4 per person for a shared van
each way) or Port Lucaya ($5 per person each way). We made up our minds to
go to Port Lucaya when the driver advised the shops there were more
plentiful. He also shared the information that all beaches are accessible to
the public, even those fronting the luxury resorts that line the water in
Port Lucaya."

I'd grab a shared van and head for Port Lucaya and the beach--your 8-year
old will probably enjoy that the most. If you buy drinks or lunch at one of
the resorts you can use their bathrooms. It's a nice way to spend the day at
the beach. Plus, the shopping there is better than the Intl Bazaar.

Hope that helps.

Linda

2 best things to do in the Bahamas
Swim with the Dolphins and The underwater aquarium at the Atlantis hotel.
Other than that if you are cruiseing, hang out on the ship.
