My Mom and grand parents came to the US from Europe on the Ille de France.

Yeah... their Citizenship papers.

They look at it more like winning the lottery. If they hadn't... they'd
have lived in communist Czechoslovakia all these decades.

US Citizenship is their souvenir of the journey.

I agree with you. I would loved to have crossed the Atlantic sailing
first class on one of the grand ladies of the sea.

I was fortunate enough to have crossed the Pacific on the S.S. Lurline.
I was only a child but it instilled a lifelong love for ships. My parents
realized that days of ocean liners and using ships as transpiration would
soon be over so they took their children on trip across the sea.

Back in those days... most "crossed" in Steerage. Or in Second Class.

Very few were rich enough to afford First Class.

My grandparents came here to escape the hard times in Czechoslovakia... not
to experience a grand lady of the seas.

Different era. Different world.

Gentry Turbo Eagle.

Some purists don't accept its accomplishment, as it
was refueled en-route.

If I am going to dream, I will dream big. It takes no more effort
to dream of being in first class than to dream of being in steerage.
