| | Guest | OT Northeast Weather While I blew it regarding snowfall and thinking this winter would be
warmish, in direct contrast to last winter, this winter may prove not to
be as cold or snowy as last winter. Last year, this weekend, New York
City received 19 inches plus of snow. This weekend we'll get 45 degree
weather on Saturday and much colder high 20s weather on Sunday. No
frozen precip forecasted. Although January was one of the coldest,
February has had all of its days, at least in NYC, over the freezing
point, at average temps, and quite a few days over average temps, and
the month is half over. The next current cold span is forecasted to only
go for two days and then back to above freezing and temps in the 40s.
So, after the tough and cold January, February's temps have moderated,
and there's not much snow this month. So far.

Ya ever hear the saying... "Everybody complains about the weather but
nobody does anything about it"?
Predicting's pretty much just as tough.

Walked this afternoon from the UN Building (where I was auditing a Citibank
Financial Center) on 48th and 1st to the Lexington Ave E train station on
3rd and 52nd and did not even felt the cold.. I hope Spring is on the way
and our future cold waves are of short duration.. We also have much more
daylight now in the mornings and evenings than we had on December
21st...this is a sure sign of Spring as the month and the winter season
progresses.

To me the surest sign comes next Friday: "Pitchers and catchers report
for Spring Training."

Well, Ben.. as they say.. "it ain't over.. 'til it's over".
The low for Sat here is 24... the low on Sunday 3.
And we have had snow here in May....so anything can happen.

We have gas heat here in Philly but believe me it's no bargain. I have to
take a nitro tablet each month before i open the bill. It's constantly in
the $300 range. I don't know how people on fixed incomes can do it? :-(

Frightful number for Sunday. Saturday's high's will be quite mild,
getting cold late in the day. Monday should also be cold.

Anything can happen. Last winter and early spring were brutal. I think
it may have been colder this January but last December and February were
colder with much more snow. They say that the cold snap coming on Sunday
will only go for 2 days. We'll see about the rest of February. But the
real test is how the temps are in the period from now to mid-April.
It'll be interesting to compare overall oil usage from December to mid
April, this year to last year. January was a big usage month for us, but
not December.
Ben (hoping this spring and summer won't be anywhere near as rainy as
last spring and summer)

| | Guest | OT Northeast Weather Eddie, I hate to burst your bubble, but an arctic chill is supposed to
hit the northeast tonight, causing our temps to plummet. Tomorrow
we're said to experience highs only in the 20's. Winter ain't leaving
us just yet.
