Default Tikal by Air/Belize City excursion

We're taking the NCL Sea in April and we're visiting Belize City.

I would like to do the "Tikal By Air" excursion. But I am worried about
price. The only price I have found was through an independent operator at
$400 PP USD. That is a LOT more than I'm willing to pay. The way I'm looking
at it is that it would cost us $800 bucks to see 1 Mayan ruin when I could
spend that $800 on a land vacation to Guatemala, or another cruise almost!

So, have any of you taken the Tikal By Air excursion with NCL (or a private
operator with lower rates)? What is the cost for the NCL excursion?

Thanx

Default Tikal by Air/Belize City excursion

I visited Tikal a few years ago while travelling in the region. I
thought it was a great place and well worth the trip, but I wouldn't
shell out $800 for a day trip.

It all depends how much you want to see the sight, and whether you
ever plan to return to the area.

I took the Tikal by Air tour off the Noordam from Puerto Barrios in March 1997,
so my answer may not apply in 2004. However, our airfare for a DC-3/C47-type
plane and a one hour flight to Tikal was about $425. For that, I got the tour
of my life so far. I will probably never be able to return, certainly not on a
land tour. Tikal is unforgettable and worth whatever if costs-wish i had
bought the T-shirt 8>}
