Carib Islands that I've never been to.

| | Guest | Recommendations for Tortola Beaches Some of the best on tortola are on the Cane garden bay on the north west
end , brewers bay, elizabeth bay, smugglers bay and also nice beaches on
beef island. The best beaches are definitely on the other side of the
island, not the roadtown side.
enjoy

I love Cane Garden Beach. But either before or after you go there, be
sure to go to Pusser's Pub in Roadtown. Typical English pub, with a
Caribbean twist (Curried Chicken Salad in a Pita is wonderful!)

Thanks Stephen; i'll note your recommendation. Is Tortola very Brittish
colonial, like Bermuda; or is is more laid back?

No, it's not -- very much laid back, although the British signature is there.
Tortola is mostly centered around sailing, and is small and quiet. It's like
stepping back 50 years to the old Caribbean, with friendly people, one or two
big resorts, a few upscale restaurants, a couple of colorful local bars that
haven't been commoditized yet. Well, there are some souvenir stands and stuff
near the cruise docks.
I hope HAL doesn't take enough cruises there to ruin it.
When are you headed there?

Great Mason! Al I want to do on Tortola is veg out on some beautiful beach.
We're doing the Carnival Legend on Dec 31 and Jan 8. After 16 days on
the Legend, we will hop onto the Zuiderdam (which goes to Tortola) on
Jan 17 (got a cat S suite for a song - which is great cause by then
we'll have lots of laundry and dry cleaning). Not that I seriously
care, but it's sort of cool that we'll be spending 23 days cruising the
Caribbean without one repeat of a port stop.

I second Stephan's opinion, Howard!
There is nothing quite like the ride from port over the mountains and through
the woods to Cane Garden Bay in one of the open air cabs. It's a shore
excursion all by itself for the price of the ride. If you can swing it, try to
make a stop at Skyworld for one of the most magnificent views in the Caribbean.
Tortola and Cane Garden Bay are my favorite stops in the islands. When you
picture the ideal Caribbean island, you're putting a picture of Tortola in your
mind.

That settles it! Cane Garden Beach is where I'm going. Do they have
changing facilities there?
