Has anyone ever stopped at Saba or for that matter taken a land vacation
there. It looked like an interesting island when we passed it, but I was
wondering what there was to do there since it didn't look like there were
any beaches.

I [too] have been intrigued by this Island for many many years.

We too passed it (I remember almost being able to touch it)
when we did a TSS Festival cruise [what happened to that ship]
during a Christmas/New Year Cruise back in late '88-

I read about the island. There are not many beaches on the island but it
hit had a few Villa's to stay. Perhaps in that time it's been built up.

I too would love to know more about this Island as I wanted to return to
it if I could one day.

I have a friend who travelled to Saba last year and loved it. He was there
to attend a wedding of a friend. He's in Europe right now, so I can't
quickly ask him about his experience there.

I remember meeting someone on a cruise who mentioned that her brother
attended medical school on Saba.

I don't believe there are any beaches.

There are few beaches and you get there via St. Maarten (flights)

I think there is a medical school on the island they admit 40 students a
semestar or something. I remember reading about the island - when we
returned from our curise way back in the late 80's...

I was so intrigued by this Island it has me planning this as my get away
with my husband and brother (and his spouse)

One of the nice aspects of a cruise is also finding islands you love and
returning to them and staying longer then the preview.

What, where is Saba, Rich? Never even heard of it.

It's part of the Windward Islands about 30 miles from St. Maarten. We once
passed it on a 10 trip after leaving Puerto Rico. The island is probably
only about a mile across & juts straight out of the water - although scenic,
there are not many beaches. If any ships do stop there it would double the
total population of the island but it would sure be a change from the busy
St. Thomas type of island.

I've spent a week on Saba on two separate trips. I like it - you either
love it or are bored cross-eyed.

What to do? Not much. Dive (I'm not a diver but it is supposed to be
first class). Hike. Veg out. I've read good reports about half day
tours.

No beaches.

You get there from St. Maarten by air or boat - I say air. I don't
think you will "stop" there since there is poor anchorage even for
small yachts.
