Default NCL (Dawn)

Hello

Can anyone fill me in on the Ship? All the good and the Bad out of New
York. Are the pools heated out of New York? Also can you bring beer or
any alcohol on the NCL ships? Thanks for all of your input.

Scott

Yes. Some of both. No. No. You're welcome.

Default NCL (Dawn)

We took it on Oct. 5 and found the cruise very enjoyable. Getting on and off
was quick and easy for us. The room stewards were great and the ship still
has a fresh, new feel to it.
Food was good although we didn't try any of the cover charge restaurants. We
never had trouble making reservations, although we are early diners and thus
avoided the rush. We had dinner at Salsa a few times and I would suggest
that if you like Mexican food.
Things like bingo and art auctions are pushed, but not to the point where it
was too annoying. The crew seemed genuinely helpful and we didn't have a
single unpleasant moment in the week. We found Iris Dimonte (not sure of the
spelling of the last name) particularly charming. She hosted the evening
trivia contests. Both my wife and I enjoyed her friendliness and we came
home loaded with NCL souvenirs and good memories.
We took in some shows; song and dance ones are not my cup of tea, but there
was a decent magician and a comic. The movie theater is nice if you want to
catch a film.
Port Canaveral and Miami were a bit of a letdown for us, but that may be
because we didn't choose the right activity. The island we visited, Great
Stirrup Cay (sp?) was fantastic. A nice, quiet harbour with clear water
about 1.5 metres deep at the most. One could walk around in it for a fair
distance and just look at the occasional stingray or fish glide by. We
rented a foam "blanket" for $5 and spent time floating on it in the water.
It's a very restful way to spend some time. Just be sure to bring suncream
and bug spray. The sun can be fierce and there are some kind of biting
insects in the sand. My wife's legs were itching for days afterwards.
Nassau was nice to stroll around in, but the stay there is very brief.
This was our third cruise and we enjoyed it more than any other (1 Hal and 1
RCL). There can be annoyances and irritations, but, approached with the
right spirit, I believe you'll enjoy your week on the Dawn.
All the best for your cruise.
