| | Guest | Fantasy cruise 11/6 Since my wife has a few days off, we're going to take a short 3 day cruise
on the Carnival Fantasy out of Port Canaveral -- never been on Carnival
before --only NCL & Celebrity -- any one been on this ship recently ?? I
guess it's going to be different -- any thoughts on quality of the food?
Going with rather low expections, so I hope to be pleasantly surprised. Only
been to Nassau once - we walked around, went to the Straw Mart - never went
to Atlantis -- will go this time --understand it's terrific what's the best
deal ?-- just go there & pay $25 ?? -- should we use the beach at the
Atlantis, or should we go somewhere else after we tour the facility?? After
dinner, we were thinking about returning to the Atlantis the ship doesn't
depart until 7 AM the next day, so if the night clubbing is active, seems
like fun - good idea?? any other ideas/ thoughts? -sorry for so many
questions in a dis-jointed post - -let you know my impressions upon our
return -- thanks in advance

| | Guest | Fantasy cruise 11/6 Bill, the Fantasy just came out of dry-dock undergoing a 25 million dollar
refurb. I was on this ship for a quick three day cruise in July and she was
not in bad shape at all. I will be back on again for a quick cruise during
Thanksgiving. I understand that all staterooms received a complete makeover
including carpeting, drapes, bedding, and the bathrooms were retiled. Many of
the public rooms were also redone during this time including the addition of
a new lobby bar. I found the crowd on my July cruise to be rather quite.
This is unusual for a three day cruise.
Atlantis does not do much for me. I would suggest going over to Blue Lagoon
during the day and then maybe cab it over to Atlantis in the evening.

I don't think cruise ship pax can use the beach at Atlantis. All they let
you do is see the aquarium for the $25.00 fee.

| | Guest | Fantasy cruise 11/6 You'll get more answers to your questions about what to do if you post
them again under a subject heading like "what to do in Nassau," Bill.
I was on the Fantasy about 10 years ago so I can't tell you ANYTHING
about it, but I can tell you that Carnival's food has gotten better and
better over the years and has been excellent on at least the last 7 or 8
Carnival cruises we've been on, so I think you may be surprised by the
quality. And I CAN tell you that we loved the ship way back then.
But you should also be aware that short cruises are different than
longer ones because people tend to be a bit frantic to squeeze a lot
into a little bit of time.
You certainly don't need to take any kind of ship's tour to the
Atlantis. Taxi or water taxi are both inexpensive - taxi costs more
than water taxi but takes you right where you want to go with no
walking, if that's an issue for you. There's no charge for walking
around the hotel and casino. The charge comes in if you want the tour
of the grounds and the aquarium. I haven't been to the beach at the
Atlantis since it became the Atlantis - and I'm not sure the $25
includes use of the beach - but since you'll be there for so many hours,
I'd suggest you go to some other beach when you first arrive, then have
dinner on the ship, and THEN go to the Atlantis afterwards. It's
dazzling enough to be worth a look but personally I find $25 just too
much of a charge for what amounts to wandering around a hotel! I do
believe you'll find some lively stuff there at night.

I agree -- the thought of shelling out $50 (for my wife & me) to tour a
hotel doesn't seem right to me either, but considering I'm spending a lot of
money for the cruise to Nassau , and the Atlantis is supposedly the most
spectacular site in Nassau, I'll probably swallow hard and pay up -- I
understand the aquarium is impressive -- when I get back I'll share my
impressions
