Default Formal NY Eve on HAL?

Does anyone have any experience with HAL on New Year's Eve? Should we
expect it to be formal night? Will there be a party at midnight? Fancy
indoor party or informal deck party? We'll be in the Caribbean.
Thanks, Helen

Ships often switch the schedule to accomodate New Years eve. On Carnival
Pride lasat year it was formal night, of course not many of us were left in
formal wear by midnight on the deck, but if the weather is good, be there
formal or not it is fun (and will be even on HAL)

Would love to hear more about this as we will be on the Carnival Legend
for New Years Eve. That's embarkation day, so we're wondering whether
there will actually be a party that night. (There WIlL be one, for us
at least, but it'd be nice if the whole ship would join in!)

It is entirely up to the cruise director and staff.Chances are they
won't do formal due to late arrivals baggage problems etc. (though they
could make it formal optional as it often is anyway lol)

We had a party on deck with a countdown clock and a big screen TV with
an ABC feed live from NYC ( Clark is still doing these
things????!!!!) Dancing, drinking (free champagne at midnight) toasting
and general merrymaking. It is really hard to mess up New Years (Ok I've
seen it done but it is not easy)

I was on the Statendam last NY's and it seemed the whole ship was a
party. It was formal and at dinner each guest had hats and noise makers
at their dinner places. The Captain started a countdown a few minutes
before midnight. At midnight all sorts of bells, whistles and the big
ship horn went off. Fun---I hope you enjoy your cruise.

On my cruise it was a formal night. It was absolutely WONDERFUL. There was a huge ship-wide party with big celebrations in all the lounges. I was in the Queen's Lounge on the old Westerdam. Some of the passengers were getting the waiters dancing even while they were serving. The live band was just excellent, and it was one of the best New Year's Eve parties I've ever been to.

That sounds like fun and I'd sure rather not be dressed formally on deck.

New Years Eve can be messed up, believe me. We once had friends doing
their laundry at our house on New Years Eve. (They will be with us on
this cruise, and they are DEAD if they do laundry that night.)

It was formal & we had spectacular fireworks off the top deck of the
Ryndam last year!
