HAL Returns to NYC-Bermuda!

I have learned that the Veendam will return to the New York
City-Bermuda itinerary with 10- sailings beginning in August of 2010.
The Veendam will overnight at both Hamilton and St. George’s. She
will return and sail this itinerary for a full Bermuda season in 2011.
It is interesting to note that the Veendam II sailed to Bermuda as far
back as 1926.

Very interesting. I hope it is true even though HAL would not have been
my first pick for Bermuda. I'll take what I can get with a St. George
and Hamilton itinerary.

Docking .The press release says step off the ship into town and
mentions the Veendam can fit.

I think this would be a perfect SGC for 2010 or 2011. It would also be a
last cruise to Bermuda for us before Kevin retires and we move to Florida.

It is even possible that HAL won't be the only option. Bermuda has been
taking a hurting because of not having ships dock in Hamilton. I could
see a second ship doing that itinerary too.

It is way to early to think about and I am not sure which summer would
work better for us, still I think we should keep it in mind.

I think HAL would be a good cruise line for Bermuda and I won't let them
hide you with all the old people.lol If there is a choice then we can
pick and choose what works better for all of us.

Will the Veendam return to Tampa at a later date? If not will HAL put
another ship in Tampa? We have lost Celebrity at that port. I sure hope
we don't lose HAL.

The Bermuda sailing season pretty much coincides with the Alaska
sailing season. Veendam has been doing Alaska, so moving Veendam to
Bermuda does not mean it could not still do Tampa.

You are leaving the garden state(with the highest taxes) to move to
florida?

Yes we are as soon as Kevin retires. It isn't only the HIGH TAXES here,
we want to get away from winter and also be within driving distance of
all the Florida ports.
