Default Grand Cayman Beaches

So many have talked up Rum Point that I have read it has become more
crowded. Some of the cruise lines and independent operators now have
excursions that do Rum Point, although only for an hour as part of
going to Stingray City.

The thing about Grand Cayman is you have to tender, then you would have
to rent a car and drive there and back which eats up time. That said,
on our Viking cruise we do have a longer day at Grand Cayman 8 to 4,
than a lot of the port days I have had at Cayman, many we 8 to 2, so we
could have a decent amount of time at Rum Point.

Seven Mile beach is a long beach (note the name) and parts do get
crowded when there are a lot of ships. But parts are less crowded. Most
cruise ship passengers tend to get dropped off at one area, I think it
is the Beach Club. I think the taxi drivers must get a kick back to
drop off there. Anyone should definitely avoid that one if they want
less crowds. I have been to relatively less crowded parts of 7 mile
although for sure there are more ships a day these days.
The problem with Grand cayman is getting BACK to the port when
everyone else is too... the traffic is murder and like you said to get
tendered is another thing so its rush rush rush. so Rum point may be
out of reach with this oen, and just knnowing about the possibility
with those rays Forget it..... Do not want to go to the hospital and
just reading about the excrutiating pain OH BOY.....

My main concern about Grand Cayman is not which beach, Seven Mile is
beautiful and I am sure Rum Point is too, it is that out of about eight
times I was on ships supposed to call there it was cancelled outright
three times and another time we tendered in to Spotts Bay instead of
Georgetown, because of rough waters.
Charles... I've been to Cayman about 6-7 times and have never missed the
port. If we get skunked there this time... I'm going to have to assume that
you're a Cayman Jinx... LOL.

But I'm not 50, Susette! All the places you mentioned above are okay. I'll
try and tuck in a souvenir from Poland for you!
Father McHugh wants me to bring him back a crucifix for his wall of crosses
which I also have as I collect one from each country we visit, my doctor
wants cards from each country we visit so I've got to make sure I have room
in my suitcase for all these things! My parents were both born in
Poland...so we must be cousins! ;-)

When is the Oasis cruise scheduled? Let me know ahead of time so I don't
schedule a cruise too close to it as I did this year!

Nice bit of information there. Thanks.
As to the type of ray the ex got nailed by,
I can only go by what he said. He said it
was maybe a foot across in size and had spots.
He got sliced right on the top of
his foot.
I'd conclude that it was a Yellow Ray.

Everything fits including size, since yellow rays tend to be fairly
small ... roughly "dessert plate" to "dinner plate" in size.

Typical Southern Stingrays and Eagle Rays are more in the "cafeteria
tray" size (or somewhat larger). Mantas are larger still...4ft to 8ft
wingspan in the Caribbean; larger (up to 25ft) in the Pacific.
