| | Guest | Past uniqueness of the cruise-line's finally merged into Carnival I'd read from a respected cruise travel journalist recently he had to
ask himself what ship he was on..it didn't matter whether it was HAL,
Princess, or Celebrity they all were Carnival like and with very
little distinction. So, does it really matter anymore which "Carnival"
cruise line to you chose?

Mark, I agree with you. Put me in front of a salad bar and I can tell
you which cruise line I am on.

I find that Journalist to not be very versed in Cruising with that
statement. In my OWN opinion what the 3 cruise lines have in common
that is the same is it is a ship that floats on the water!
Carnival has DEEP pockets and YES they own alot of companies so would
you also say that the QM2 and Costa were the same as A Carnival Ship?
I think not. And as George Stated, ASk anyoen with even 5 sailings and
they would know what ship they were on. Each hs their own distinction,
and YES "Cruising" in general is changing.. Especially the Eatting
situation. Freestyle, Personal Choice or whatever name you want to
give it, is happening in the industry, It saves them money and in many
cases Gives them more revenue from the "alternative Dinings"
Food is subjective- ALL cruise lines food is not what it was in the
early 80's
Most cruisers who did cruise from the 70's til now will tell you that
is true. Corners had to be cut, and that is where you can cut them.
But it doesn't mean you can not find something good! I feel if i am
not cooking it and not cleaning the dishes it is OK in my book.
They all have their good and bad, My worst meal however came on
Princess. Does that mean I woul.d never sail them again? of course
not.
Shows- boy oh Boy NCL used to be known as the SHOW Queen with the
Broadway shows and all- But that too has changed.... Carnival shows
were entertaining. and I enjoy Royal caribbeans shows alot, from the
Ice shows to the fun game shows ( quest is a hoot, and the Love and
marriage, and now the Cirque type show, I find it Much better then
most cruise Lines, Again the worst shows having been on Crown
Princess, they were not even remotely good...
I would say ask Tom and Charles But they were asleep ...
I remember seeuing RAIN on RCCL and I remember hearing Jennifer hudson
on one of my Cruises BEFORE Idol on a Carnival Cruise and saying WOW
she has a VOICE. FRom the Drifters to Mickey DOlenz all entertaining
on RCCL and yes they hav had stinkers too.
But compared to ALL Inclusives, Cruises run rings around them!
So are they they same? no each has their own uniqueness and yet there
is similarities too.
Again Just my opinion!

| | Guest | Past uniqueness of the cruise-line's finally merged into Carnival Since I usually can't afford Crystal or Radisson service it was HAL
which I was concerned about, it was always considered a step up
service-wise and what I gleaned from the original comments he/she
felt all of the Carnival holdings were melding into Carnival service
with little distinction regardless of ship design, they follow a
company line good or bad.

And when your on a Royal Caribbean Ship YOU know it. Each has their
own uniqueness
( cruise Line). I am partial to Royal Caribbean, not that I wouldn;t
do other cruises of course, BUt unfair to say that all the ships
carnival owns look the same just not so.
And If that is what you think or the journalist then you are entitled
to your opinions!
