In my opinion, the best snorkeling on your sailing will be when you visit
St. Thomas. Take the ferry from Red Hook to the island of St. John. Then
take a taxi to Trunk Bay. Go out to the large rocky areas out in the water.
Excellent snorkeling.

There's not much in Nassau. Some lines have an excursion to Rose Island...
which is fair.

In St. Maarten, Pinel Island had some reefs, but most were destroyed by a
hurricane a few years back.

Agreed. Just allow a little more than the recommended time to get
back to St. Thomas. The ferry's timeliness is less than.

Not really even that. Most of the people I know either skip cruises
to Nassau or stay on the ship.

There are some nice spots still there, but it's pretty much a mess
until you hit about 60 feet. Which isn't exactly snorkeling depth.
More like free diving, which few people actually do.
