There is justice. Puerto Ricans pay into Social Security so her benefit
is figured out the same as yours. She earned the $1100 a month.

When there are problems with the economy, slowdown, recession,
inflation etc. many people are going to suffer. Some are no longer
going to be able to cruise for various reasons related to the economic
problems.
Last time the cruise lines had to drop prices to fill the ships and
many including myself were able to take advantage of that. That could
be repeated but maybe not, because with the higher fuel costs they
might instead mothball or send to the breakers older less efficient
ships to reduce berths.

If she did not work then her husband worked. Otherwise she would not
get Social Security income. Someone payed in for her to get Social
Security income. Either her, her husband or both. The amount one gets
is based on earnings. Your husband gets Social Security too right? If
you survive him then your amount will go up.

What is not kosher is something in your story. To get Social Security
she or a spouse would have to pay into the system from earnings. Social
Security is not welfare.
