Because the news reports tell of the problems the Empress of the
North is having.

Struck a rock near Juneau and went aground.

Passengers evacuated by lifeboat.

roughly 200 passengers.

The ship in Alaska which is sinking is The Empress of the Norh. Shes a
small ship that sils only along the Alaska coast. About 150 passengers.

CNN and MSNBC were both reporting that she had been taking on water
initially but that had stabilized. Don't know if that qualifies as
sinking to you, but comes damn close to my way of thinking. Just that
she isn't any more.
