Do you have to clear customs and immigration in LV or just change
planes. If the former you should not have much trouble. IRRC, and it has
been awhile, you don't have to leave secured areas to get from one place
to another.
Iwould also suggest you check in with the people who hang around
vacation.las-vegas newsgroup. Somone there would know for sure.

deal with when it comes to any airline changes. Ask me how I know!~!

Any chance getting on an earlier flight from LA to Vegas? Even if you
have to buy a new ticket for LA to Vegas segment, it shouldn't cost more
than $174.
If you buy a new ticket for LA-Vegas, I image you can check your bags
through to Toronto and don't have to handle them in Vegas.

Did you look into swallowing the extra fee and trying a later
flight. Looks like from Travelocity that there may be as many as 50
flights leaving Las Vegas after 3:00 pm. The only straight flights (2)
appear to be red eyes. The rest want to route through everything from
LAX to Calgary, but still might be cheaper and better than staying over.

If this is an agent you had worked with before and thinks you might
work with them again, you might try to get them to at least waive the
rebooking fee. Remind them that they should have had the full itinerary
and that you trusted them when they said it wouldn't matter. Worst that
happens is that they say no and you find a new TA.
