Default Our experience in Jamaica

I think they have really done something great there for the cruise industry
and their passengers. We were there last week and were not hasseled at all,
went ashore to the shops there, and everyone was very friendly and kind and
did not push anything.

I believe they realize that the cruise industry was fed up with the way they
were behaving and they have done a complete turn-around.

It was the prettiest port that we visited also. Our cruise ship RCI
Rhapsody of the Seas stopped there, Grand Cayman and Cozumel and it was
gorgeous. We stopped at Ocho Rios, and the rest of the family did the
Dunn's waterfalls and had a blast. They were not hasseled at all on the
boat that took them there, and were highly entertained by the crew. They
were elated that the stop turned out so well.

If you went to Dunn's waterfalls by boat you missed the onslaught of
peddlers between where you exit the falls & the bus parking lot.

Agreed!! Going by boat is way diffrent than taking a bus or cab to the
falls. I wonder if the reaction would have been the same if they had to
walk out thru the market place? I doubt it.

I went by boat and did not walk through the market place. I planned it
that way. That is the beauty of the internet. You can do advance
research and avoid pitfalls. As I recall it was someone on this
newsgroup who gave me that tip. So as a result I have nothing but fond
memories of Dunn's River Falls. Climbing it was a blast, then we went
back down and enjoyed the beach before taking the boat back which was a
party with rum drinks and dancing.

One positive move is that O.R. is keeping the locals outside the gates
at the passenger terminal. Thats one step in the right direction.
