I don't recall Celebrity ever having towel animals (though I haven't been on
Celebrity in almost 2 years). Just not their kind of thing. At least when
I used to go regularly.

Exercise is definitely something that has changed on and about cruise ships,
which is to say that the way passengers exercise and the design of ship
exercise facilities have changed. When I started cruising in 1960, the prom
deck almost always circled the ship about level 5 or 6, the name promenade
meaning "walk" (walk around). Outside cabins on the prom deck looked out on
walkers or joggers passing by your porthole. There may be some cruise ships
that still have a walk around prom deck, but I haven't been on one in a long
time. It seems these days that upper decks are set up to provide varying
sizes of walk/jog tracks up around the sun or sky decks. Perhaps as
compensation, most have elaborate exercise rooms full of toys to make you
sweat off second helpings. If working out is your thing, you can have a
ball comparing facilities as you choose a cruise ship. For a 4 lap mile,
you might have to book a Cunard Queen. They might still have that good old
fashioned look and feel. We have to realize that more balcony cabins means
fewer prom decks. Life goes on.

The last couple of ships I have been on (HAL Statendam, Maasdam and
Rotterdam and NCL Pearl and Jade) have all had the regular promenade
deck.

You must mean a promenade all on one deck. Most of the ships I've been
on all have wraparound promenade decks but they often require climbing
and descending stairs to another deck to complete the circuit.

Had them on Solstice.

Hi Warren,
I agree that most ships have ways to walk all around the ship, however I was
referring to Prom deck as the actual name of the deck. I don't pay
attention, but I suppose many ships use numbers rather than names, like
floor numbers in a hotel. Your response surprised me that an experienced
cruiser would not automatically assume prom to be a specific deck. You must
be a very young person, probably even 60 or younger.
Keep cruising and sending us re-caps of your trips. I enjoy your reports.

Did not have them on Constellation a few months ago and I never had
them on any Celebrity cruise but not surprised you had them on
Solstice. They are popular. They have started appearing on Princess and
HAL that used to traditionally not have them.

We've always had them on HAL. I sort of missed them.
