Translation.... if they had a product that they expected to be VERY HOT....
they'd be pricing it much higher. Apple always prices high. Sounds like
maybe they're trying to come up with a pricing plan to save what they
anticipate will be a bit of a loser product. They probably put a lot of
money into this product, and need to recoup some of it, even if it's not the
hot item of the year.

Everyone one want to define it by what it isn't, wrong way to look, imo.
As to how well it sells, well maybe it will take them 2 days to sell out
the first production run instead of only 1!
You are basically saying some of the things that were said about the
iPod and how it just wasn't going to sell and do well in the market.

Thanks Becca. I still read in the Yahoo groups, but as you know, I
haven't been posting.
Winter is for geeky things and music!
So when is George gonna do a 'tiny little cabin' group on the Epic?

OK, I won't hold my breath either!

I am currently looking at two 64 gig thumbs that I bought for about
$128 at Frye's.
As far as 3G is concerned, oh yeah I'd buy one. I'd also look into
renting SIM card for whatever destination and buying 3G data for it.
Virgin Mobile in UK is pretty cheap. O2 in Australia is very cheap.
But free/cheap wifi is even batter, and more accessible than in the
States. My wifi detedtor (a t-shirt that can be bought at
www.thinkgeek.com found many wifi sites walking down down Ave. Rafeal
Melgar in Cozumel and a huge number betwwen the pier and 7 Mile Beach
in Grand Cayman. (It's a black shirt, so I change shirts after a
while)

Seems the same thing can be said for the incrediblly successful
original iPhone.

Netbooks don't replace notebooks. For most, same price, less
performance. In some ways, they chap Intel, since they are using the
Atom, which has a very low ASP and was really intended for the smart
phone market.
Flash. Well some insiders, on background, have said that Apple is
feeling enough heat on this one that we may soon see it. But "soon" =
June/July.
