| | Guest | Gevalia subscription Hello,
I'm considering trying Gevalia coffee and taking advantage of their free
coffeemaker offer. If I decide to cancel the service later can that be done
on their web site, or do I have to call them and deal with a sales rep who's
going to try to talk me out of it?

Not a problem. They are VERY low key about it when you cancel.

Thanks for the reply. So, are you saying that it IS necessary to call them
on the phone? And what do you think of their coffee?

Gevalia is owned by Philip Morris aka Altria. You may not care but I
prefer not to support them (not to mention the low quality).

I'm not saying it's necessary. That's the way I have done it and the
guy was very nice, no pressure whatsoever. If you are embarrassed
already about canceling, maybe you should think twice about getting
involved.
Their coffee? It's not bad and there are lots of varieties, but before
we got our Gaggia we preferred Arvid Nordqvist coffee, also from Sweden,
in our drip coffeepot. (My husband travels there frequently and we have
frequent business visitors so we always had a supply in the freezer.)

Thanks again for the reply. I don't think "embarrassed" is the right word.
I do anticipate the pressure of the unspoken social contract, i.e. we gave
you free stuff and now you should feel obligated to continue using our
service. I wouldn't let that feeling stop me from canceling the service
though, if I felt it wasn't worth it. I appreciate that the person you
dealt with at Gevalia was not pushy, but IMO that's the exception not the
rule. It has been necessary for me on many occasions to be very assertive
to get customer service people to stop services. I don't have a problem
doing that, but I can't say that I like it either. If I have a choice I
will cancel a service on a web site or by mail, instead of going through a
customer service rep who is very likely getting paid to discourage me.
Wouldn't you? | |
