Default Tell me how to spend $100, please

Hi Folks

I haven't posted here in a long time. I've been happily brewing away
with my Bodum electric Santos, which has now been replaced three times
in about four years.

Anyway, my parents asked me to order an electric drip coffee maker for
them, and want to spend about $100.00. I've looked through the old
posts here, looked at CoffeeGeek.com & Mark's other site, but can't
figure out what to get them. (They had mentioned a Melitta or Bunn
maker.) (I know french press, manual pour, & vac-pots all make better
coffee, but my folks won't use any of those.)

I'd appreciate it if someone could just tell me what to get so I don't
have to wrack my brain trying to figure this all out. As long as the
caraffe doesn't drip coffee when you pour, and the maker will last for
a few years, I'm sure my parents will be happy.

Thanks,

Rex

see if you can get a Melita Clarity coffeemaker on closeout; they have been
available on and off for $20 to $30. Then they need a grinder if they don't
have one. I'm not sure what the best grinder to fit this all under $100
would be, but I would spend enough on the grinder to make the coffeemaker
purchase worth doing.

The Presto Scandinavian has 2 possibly annoying features:

1. The clock is hard to read
2. You have to push the power button twice to start coffee (once for
timer mode, twice for start)

The coffee is top notch though. Good dispersion, proper temperature,
etc. And it looks like it was made to stand next to a Solis grinder.
Costco has the pair for less than $150 shipped I believe.

If you can find one, I'm a big fan of the Black & Decker Infuze. Great
product, in my opinion, with execrable marketing, now discontinued as a
result. Much easier to clean than your electric Santos, and less fussy
about position.

Best,
David
