You nailed it, that's the best bang for the buck but you also need either a
kettle or a stove and a pot which most already have.
For years I used the filter basket from a bunn (but not the bunn) placed
directly over a thermos flask and an electric kettle.
For looks + price + great coffee I'd choose the chemex.

It is a great concept, but a bit on the expensive side.

Hi, I'm a newbie here and I have a Black and Decker Spacemaker that
makes the best coffee I've had at home every time. Steel carafe and the
spray head has about 16 holes and the grounds are all uniformly soaked
when done. I don't have a digital themometer with a probe so I can't
check the temp. Maybe one of you can check one out. I paid $38.00 for
it on sale at Walmart but I think the regular retail is around $50.00.
I've recently got bitten by the coffee bug and bought a cheap DeLonghi.
I'm looking to upgrade to a Sylvia or a Le'Lit, I can't make up my
mind. BTW I'm not affiliated with B&D.

Is there any magic about the Clarity in particular? It appears to be
unavailable while there are several other relatively inexpensive Mellita
models listed. I've had good results with the cheap Melitta cone and carafe
sets, but would prefer a little more automated setup. However, the Clarity
appears to be a rather different design than the other models.

So I thought. I'll continue to use that fabricated in the workshops of Black
and Decker. I don't think I have what it takes to worship the Kami of
Kaffee.
