Default Coffee & Depression

Hi All ;-)

I would like to know whether one can become depressed if he/she didn't drink
coffee for a day or two. I'm asking because I'm a heavy coffee drinker who
didn't drink coffee for a while for reasons that I don't want to get into
and, as a result, started to feel rather depressed. Now that I'm on my
usual cups a day regimen, I feel better. Does anyone have an explanation
for this?

Any help is appreciated; thanks in advance.

Christine

i don't know about depression but you can feel down because of the cafeine
withdrawl ,
just like the withdrawl from any other drug

if I remember correctly, according to tests, one of the most sensual scents
for women is vanilla

Well, I don't feel suicidal when I don't have my usual dose of coffee, but I
feel rather depressed, like a "funk" came over me.

Coffee is a stimulant and is addictive, some people who give up coffee go
through serious withdrawal, that can include physical reactions as well as
emotional, my partner who is a heavy coffee drinker went cold turkey and
sufferered headaches, irritibility, bowel problems and depression, I had to
get her back on the caffeine and withdraw her gently....now she is only
drinking about 5 cups per day, compared with 20....

Default Coffee & Depression

I can certainly give you my experience. Have been drinking coffee
since I was a child (not so much back then :) My mom owned a restaurant
for years, she is a gourmet cook, and used to get a special blend from
a company in PA called The West Indies Coffee Company. I think it was like
60% French Roast and 40% I forget. Well, thats of the subject..

Anyway, I get not mild headaches, but sometimes moderate from lack of
coffee.
This usually happens twice a day, early on, and last afternoon - early
evening.
I can fulfill my morning craving and if I avoid the later...onset of the
headache.
I have personally found that coffee acts as an anti-depressant in many
cases.
If the depression is sitational, Not sure that coffee or caffiene in general
will
help, but clinical depression, I would have to say for a reasonable
percentage
of the population, coffee is a medication.

Side note, there have been studies that Pot is actually medicative for some
with
attention defecit disorder, and I am sure for some other purposes as well ;)
