Default 2004 GMC Yukon XL Speedometer Problem

Bad stepper motor. Common problem. No need to replace entire cluster, very expensive. Simply replace the stepper motor.
Since this is 100% covered by GM warranty up to 7 years/70,000 miles and
dealers will do the job past that point on a goodwill program, pulling the
cluster yourself and replacing the stepper motor yourself hardly seems
    necessary.

I probably put more miles on than most. My 04 has over 120K on the clock. If
the OP's vehicle is covered under warranty of course get it fixed at the
dealer but if not DON"T buy a new cluster.
