Default driving from US to Argentina

Is it possible taking roads only (no boats, jets, etc.)? I've heard
that there are some road gaps in Panama.

Nope, no way to drive through the Darien Gap in Panama. Even trying to
hike through is extremely dangerous.

There are ways to transport your vehicle around the gap by barge. I've
heard it's very difficult to arrange, and a bureaucratic nightmare, but
it can be done. I don't have details but have heard about people who
have done it, and have seen an Argentina licence plate on a motorhome
here in Canada.

Has anyone done this? Is the trip too impractical? I've heard a
barge would be required between Panama and Colombia.

You can get through Darien province in S. Panama with a 4wd, but you
really do not want to have to carry that much ammunition and cannon
fodder, it is a pretty hot area.

Default driving from US to Argentina

Several years ago, an Argentinian couple drove from Argentina to
Alaska. Their friends and family thought they were crazy and/or
suicidal since they were driving an old classic car that probably went
no faster than 50 mph going downhill. Nevertheless, they made it to
the Artic Circle. They drove from Argentina, into Brazil, through
Central America, drove up the east coast of the US, and then drove
across the country to Washington State and then up to Alaska. On the
way there, the wife got pregnant and gave birth somewhere in Tennessee
or Virginia or in that vicinity. It was a long and remarkable
journey. When they drove into the Seattle area, the local news media
gave coverage about their epic journey.

The couple had a website about their journey, but I can't find it
anymore. Hopefully someone else bookmarked it since it'll give you
some idea on how driving from US to Argentina will be like.

I won't be doing it, but thought about if it could be done.
