Default Taxi fee from Mexico City to Cueautla

Some time ago I posted a query about the cost for a taxi ride from the
Mexico City airport to Cuautla, not far from Cuernavaca, and I received no
replies. Just for the heck of it, here is what we did: On arrival Mexico
City airport I asked all authorized taxi vendors for a quotation. The
average was $150.00 for what normally would be a two hour drive. But because
of the unrest and clogged freeways because of the Obrador thing, the price
was a bit higher than normal. Nevertheless, my party of three took an
executive taxi (same price as all the others) and we got to our meeting in
Cuautla about two and a half hours later. On the return trip we arranged
with a local van so that six of us could make the trip at a cost of $100. It
took about two hours because it was on a Sunday and Sunday's are the best
day to drive through Mexico City because everybody is home AVOIDING the
traffic on that one precious day.

It's a common arrangement at all commercial airports around the world.
The price varies from one airport to another but most, if not all,
commercial airports charge the taxi companies an access fee. If you don't
pay you can drop people off, but you can't pick them up. I saw a situation
at a smaller regional airport where the local taxi company went out of
business and especially late at night people would sometimes get stranded
there. The airport would allow the taxi company in a neighboring city pick
up these stranded people on a case by case basis. Sometimes this company
would still refuse to pick people up because they couldn't be sure the fare
would still be there after they had driven 12 miles to pick them up. They
could drop people off there, but unless people were willing to walk out to
the main highway and off of airport property they couldn't pick them up
without special permission from the airport. I've forgotten what that
airport charged, but it was a surprising chunk of change for a small
regional airport. In the United States it's generally a yearly
non-exclusive, take it or leave it, contract.

Robberies, are somewhat common on the regular green taxis at Mexico
City, usually fake taxis are used , Airport and Bus station taxis are
clearly and properly marked and should have the drivers ID on display,
plus with the ticket you are buyinng some insurance too.
