Default More on the Train to the Clouds, Salta

Most of the Argentina's provinces maintain their own individual tourist
offices in Buenos Aires.

A friend in Buenos Aires said that he would check at the Salta tourist
office in the capital to see whether the Train to the Clouds is running or
not (I had said in a recent post that it was not running, but an Argentine
challenged my statement).

Here's is my friend's reply, which I received just a short time ago:

It is Tuesday, 10:55 hours Buenos Aires time. I have just been to Casa de
Salta here. They confirmed that the train is not running. It may be
operating again sometime 2007.

I hope that this settles the issue for the traveler who asked about the
train originally.

Heh...yeah, the train's not running. And that challenge seemed a
little aggressive, no? Maybe it was just a question of translation.

Juan:

You say that you consider this discussion closed; I do not, especially
because of what you wrote.

You wrote, "It seems John after visiting just part of Argentina many years
ago, feels he is the only who knows the country. Even on places where he
never stayed."

No, sir, you are absolutely wrong; I do not feel that I am the only one who
knows the country, although I have traveled extensively in about half of its
provinces. I also never commented on a place that I have not visited. I have
been in Salta province and its capital, but I did not take the Train to the
Clouds because it was not running at the time that I was there.

You wrote, "I read his comments and sometime I was near to post something
about his wrong info."

Please, why didn't you? I invite corrections in case of error. As an
example, if I mention restaurants I always point out that my information is
based on a visit some years ago. Do you know "El Sanjuanino" on Posadas
street in Buenos Aires, in the Recoleta neighborhood? I mentioned it in a
post some time ago, said that I had not been there since 2000, and a porteño
responded that it was still there and worth a visit.
