Venezuela - Merida Cable Car in August

Hello,

If anyone can help me with the following I'd be most grateful:

I will have one spare day in the Merida area during a visit in August.
Should I book in advance for the cable car? How likely am I to see good
views, or will it probably be cloudy and so maybe not worth the trip?

Believe it or not, I went five times around 1998 - 1999 hoping to use
the cable car in Merida. I was only lucky on the last one. It is quite
unpredictable, and it seems that most of the time it is broken. Good
