| | Guest | Argentina in July and August hola!
I'm planning to go to Argentina in the coming July and August for 3 weeks.
Besides Buenos Aires and Iguazu Fall, any "must go" and "must do"?
Is it a good idea to go to Glaciar Perito Moreno and Ushuaia in July and
August?
I'm interested in Tango, any place that I can learn tango? | |

La Viruta, 1366 Palermo, 4832-4105 (Wed, Sat)
i was in BA for 2 weeks and our hostel owner took us here.
it's in a big hall, kind of reminded me of a VFW, with different levels
of dancing from beginner to expert going on at once. tables around the
sides for eating pizza, quilmas (beer) and watching the dancing, and
you can join in
it's has some armenian flair too - bueatiful place, we had a great time
and very authentic experience. even watched an older guy cruising the
young girls for dances :)
starts late of course - 11pm or so.
our hostel owner said there are places downtown (puerto madero) that
are very touristy and just do shows for tourists, but this place was
very "buenos aires" and i had a great time.
funniest thing was when we told our friend we had to get back early
that night, and we got back at 2am, and he said "well i'm not used to
getting back so early" | |

The Perito Moreno & Ushuaia are great places to visit, but in July th
sun is up at 10am and fall at 4pm. So you cant enjoy it. Besides th
temperature is extremely low....
So I suggest you can visit Rosario, that is the 2nd most important cit
in argentina. This city is ideal for stay 2 nights, eat very good asado
at low prices, enjoy the paraná river, and go to the Rosario Centra
Stadium (the Che Guevara favorite footbal team)
You can get to rosario by bus, is only $10 dollars ticket (for 300km,
hours) from buenos aires

| | Guest | Argentina in July and August re: iguazu falls.
i spent two weeks in buenos weeks in beunos aires and the first week i
found a great local travel agent to set up the trip.
make sure your flight is from the local airport near downtown (jorge
newberry airport )so easy to get to, they fly into peurto iguazu, and
you spend the first night there, see falls and do tours the 2nd day,
and fly back 3rd day
only an hour flight each way so it doesn't eat up your whole 1st and
3rd day.
if you're in the neighborhood of avenida santa fe and perrydon (sp)
visit Colombia Travel, on the southwest side of the corner with a
white awning. A great lady named Barbara speaks english well, and she
set up a great trip for us with 2 nights at esturion hotel with meals,
passes to the park, english speaking guide. (iguazu is a lot like a US
nat'l park, paths, trails, marked well), and bus transfers
i'm not a big tour bus/group person, but we had free time to explore
park, and even took a jeep ride to base of river and boat ride to
bottom of falls) the town of peurto iguazu was a fun laid back place
to walk around, a nice break from BA, and the jungle/rainforest
climate was great (as compared to dry colorado where i live)
also another great day/overnight trip is the boat to colonia or
montevideo uruguay. buquebus is local company, ask around, everyone
knows who/where they are.
since you're staying for three weeks, i honestly think you should just
set up the trip in Buenos Aires, do it the first week, and go the third
week. It was a great price for 2 people, 2 nights, airfare, meals and
passes. (about $340 a piece)
bring a disposable camera and raincoat too! you'll love it - buenos
aires is amazing and i'm dying to go back
i didn't mind splurging for nice hotel, as i stayed in a hostel for
cheap in BA | |
