Default New Years in Mexico

this is probably to general a question but here goes anyway..

My wife and I were really looking forward to New Years Eve in The
French Quarter in New Orleans this year. Now we are looking at going
to Mexico, but haven't a clue as to where to go. We are looking for
someplace where we can get a little crazy at nite, but still have some
things to do in the daytime. Someone suggested Isle de Mujeres..

I would go to the city of Veracruz, a big party town, probably as close
to the spirit of New Orleans that you can find in mexico, music in the
streets, parades, you name it.

I would note that Veracruz is not a common destination for tourists from
the US. When we were there, the only Americans we met were residents of
Mexico on vacation, which tells you a lot. Veracruz is where Mexicans
go on vacation.

Veracruz is one of our favorite places in Mexico, and we hope to return
soon. There are direct flights to Veracruz from Houston, I believe.
