Of the cruise ports you will be visiting, Roatan is the only one I am
familiar with since I live in Honduras and go over to the island at
least once a year. November is the beginning of the rainy season in
Roatan so be prepared for rainy days. Island tours are available.
Shopping - the best place is West End Village with it's single main
street (dirt with many, many potholes) lined with souvenir shops.
Roatan is really geared to the water sports enthusiast - diving,
snorkeling, kayaking. Roatan merchants will deal in dollars. There are
some duty free shops on the island in West End Village.
There is a bird sanctuary and also zip line canopy tours. Carambola
Gardens has a wonderful orchid collection but the plants may not be in
bloom at that time (all of our orchids bloom in March-May and
August/Spetember). Anthony's key Resort has a dolphin show if you are
into that stuff. I didn't think the butterfly garden was worth the $5
admission fee.
