Default Brazil Departure Tax

Does Brazil still collect a departure tax when one is leaving? If so
what is the amount?

Thanks

I think it is longer than that. December, 2002 when we went it was no
longer.

But it will be a mistake to think the tax collection has stopped. It
is still on going. Every airport in every country still does. Thay
just include it in your fares for your convenience so you don't have to
pay twice.

Trinidad is likely the only country in the Caribbean that charges
departure tax. China also does. They call it airport tax. Once they
realize they can collect the same amount of revenue with less
bureaucracy, they'll do it.

I would not call it rip off. The departure tax in Trinidad is actually
a bargain. Where can you find $17 US (TT$100) departure tax anywhere
in the world? Just look at the fine prints next time you buy a plane
ticket. The tax is at least $75 and up.
